As technology continues to advance, we are now able to access vast amounts of information and knowledge at the touch of a button. Yep, that’s GPT. As I learn more about the utility of this platform, I’m increasingly impressed with its ability to teach. From professional information to helping with home school, GPT is emerging as a powerful resource and my personal tutor.

Whether you are a student, a professional, or just someone who loves to learn, GPT can help you expand your knowledge and skills in a convenient and accessible way.

Conversational. One of the key advantages of GPT as a personal tutor is its ability to understand natural language and provide human-like responses. This means that you can ask it questions in a conversational manner, just as you would with a human tutor. For example, if you are studying for a math exam, you can ask GPT questions about specific equations or problems and receive a clear and concise explanation in response.

Personalized. GPT also has the ability to provide personalized recommendations based on your individual learning style and needs. It can assess your current knowledge level and suggest resources and study materials that are best suited for you. This can save you time and effort in your learning journey, allowing you to focus on what is most important for you to learn.

Accessible. Another benefit of using GPT as a personal tutor is its availability and accessibility. Unlike human tutors, GPT is available 24/7 and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. This means that you can receive help and support whenever and wherever you need it, without having to worry about scheduling conflicts or finding a tutor who is available.

Iterative. A unique and powerful aspect of GPT is the iterative process of questions and answers. Interestingly, the Socratic method and GPT share some similarities in that both are designed to help individuals gain a deeper understanding of a topic through asking questions and generating responses. By asking follow-up questions, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of a topic and explore it from different angles.

Imperfect. As a machine learning model, GPT has been trained on a massive amount of text data, but it is still susceptible to making mistakes, particularly when it encounters information that it has not seen before or when it is presented with ambiguity or complex questions. By taking the time to evaluate the responses generated by GPT and using common sense and critical thinking, you can help ensure that you are getting accurate and reliable information. However, it’s important to keep in mind that GPT is a machine learning model and not a human teacher. While it can provide useful information and generate responses to questions, it may not always have accurate information or provide a response that fully captures the complexity of a topic.

GPT is a powerful tool that can become your personal tutor, providing you with the information and guidance you need to succeed in your learning journey. In comparison to human intelligence, GPT-3 is still far behind, as it lacks the ability to understand context, sarcasm, irony, and has limited common sense. Additionally, it has trouble with tasks that require creativity and abstract thinking, which are hallmarks of human intelligence. And while far from perfect (just like that human tutor), the new resource of GPT is can play a powerful role in education. And as the models improve, the utility may be become an essential tool in the evolution of our educational system.
